Each of you can commission your own composition.

I mainly compose for wind orchestras, flute orchestras, and brass bands. But feel free to contact me about special formations and we can discuss further details!

How far in advance do I need to place the order?

That depends entirely on the desired length of the composition.

Generally speaking, the ideal time is 1-2 years in advance. However, depending on the order situation and your specific request, short-term compositions are also possible.

When is the right time for you to commission a composition?

Accepted Answer

Most orchestras commission a piece to be written especially for an anniversary or other special occasion.  This gives you the opportunity to have music that not only suits your name, but perhaps also sets your orchestra's history to music!

In addition, a competition is always a good opportunity to perform your own work as a piece of your choice, as this can really highlight your orchestra's strengths!

This gives you a special performance at a competition with a piece tailor-made for your orchestra.

How is a commissioned composition created?

A commissioned composition is a joint process between me and the orchestra!

It begins with discussions about the orchestra, the association, and the occasion for the commission. Together, we gather ideas and your wishes for the work.

Of course, we record all points in an agreement (or, if desired, a contract) so that all details are recorded over the period and nothing is lost.

I am also happy to come by in advance for a rehearsal or concert to get an impression of the orchestra so that I can perfectly highlight your strengths in the composition.

After delivering the work, I will be happy to visit you at a rehearsal and work with you on the premiere. At this point, there is still the possibility to make minor adjustments to the piece!

Finally, I will also be a guest at your premiere as the conclusion of the commission!

How much does a commissioned composition cost?

The price of the commissioned composition depends on the length of the piece. I charge a fixed price per minute composed. You determine the length of the work.

In addition, you will receive a printed copy for your association, I am available at any time to answer questions, and I would be happy to attend the premiere!
